Maybe a Little More Rain Today then Gradually Clearing; Chance of Severe Thursday

Current Weather and Rest of Today

If you were woken up by some rumbles of thunder earlier this morning, you weren’t alone. Our greatest chance of rain has already moved through the area as we were all getting up for the start to our day.

This chance of rain should diminish as we move into the afternoon and evening hours, but we can not rule out an isolated shower or thunderstorm.

Below is the NAM3 model, showing the showers from this morning moving out and then some clearing – spotty showers around the area:

and then here is the HRRR model for that same time period:

Both models think another splash of rain is coming mid-afternoon.

Tuesday and Wednesday

The weather is expected to be clear and pleasant into the middle of your week. Temperatures should be range from the mid 70s for the highs and 50s for the low on Tuesday, into the low 60s for Wednesday night. Go out and enjoy this fine spring weather!

Thursday

Temperatures could reach into the low 80s on Thursday. The big story is a storm system brewing. This one may have teeth.

The Storm Prediction Center has a 15% chance of severe weather that barely includes our area on Thursday.

Best guess ETA is late Thursday night, possibly into the wee hours of Friday morning. This ETA may change. All modes of severe weather are possible (hail, damaging winds, or tornadoes), but quantifying storm modes is way too speculative right now. Too soon to worry, and the risk area may shift.

The rest of Friday and Saturday look nice, but another storm system is showing up on models Sunday. You may need to keep the umbrella nearby for later this week.
