The month of February has been a wet one so far, with rainfall values well above average. The Nashville Weather Service has recorded a value of 6.18 inches of rainfall for the month already, and it’s only the 13th! This is four and a half inches above the normal for this month. The good news is we are seeing a few dry days ahead before the next round of rain returns. Today, we will see a sunny, dry day with temperatures rising into the low 50’s.
Looking at the satellite, we see that yesterday’s front has pushed out of the Nashville area and we are now sitting in an area of high pressure. Nashville will be seeing clear skies and no rain today as a result.
Thursday, we might see a brief bit of rain around lunch time or shortly after lunch. Both the NAM3 and HRRR models think so.

Our next system arrives Friday. The thick cloud cover now over the Western Pacific states will be our next rainmaker. It’s going to take a few days to get here, and models suggest is should be here late Friday into Saturday morning. The NAM3 model ETA is mid-afternoon. The Euro thinks late afternoon, with totals under 1″, maybe/probably much less than that. Rain should end sometime Saturday morning, hopefully before noon, in case you’ve turned 50 and hoping to golf.
No flooding concerns with this system, thankfully.
