Wet Weather This Week

Today

Not much in the way of sunshine is expected as we are looking at the potential for cloud cover throughout today. Rain chances will be associated with this cloud cover; isolated showers and perhaps a few rumbles of thunder will be possible, with a greater chance of rain during the overnight hours. High temperatures could reach into the 70s today across most of our area, along with dewpoints hanging out in the 50s to lower 60s.

Not to worry though, none of these storms are expected to be severe. The only concern is the potential for minor flooding over the next few days as rain chances persist into the week ahead.

Remember: turn around, don’t drown. After the Superbowl commercials, I think we all need to have that rehashed. Don’t drive on flooded roads!

Rest of the Week

It’s really more of the same. Rain, rain, and more rain. Greatest chances of rain will be Wednesday and into Thursday as this system starts to push through. Current surface analysis and model runs are showing the possibility for the front associated with the system to stall out right on top of us. This will definitely lead to occasionally persistent rain, so make sure to have an umbrella on you!

After it is all said and done, the front should finally move through. This will drop our temperatures, and more importantly, our dewpoints. Winter may reappear on Friday, but we’ll get there when we get there. Don’t get me wrong, I love the spring… but not when it is the first week of February.

I am partial to winter. I am partial to sNOw. [Emphasis added by editor]
