It’s a “Keep the Rain Gear Handy” Type of Week, Showers Possible Each Day

Rain and Thunderstorms for the Remainder of the Day

Scattered showers and some non-severe thunderstorms have begun to fire up across Middle Tennessee. These showers will continue to push through the area for the remainder of the afternoon.

While there is no severe weather expected with any thunderstorms we see, they also need to be taken serious. Frequent lightning, strong wind gusts, heavy rainfall, and even some small hail could be associated with these thunderstorms. Be sure you are not caught outside when one arrives!

For the remainder of the evening, you are going to want to keep the rain gear handy. Showers should stick around through the evening, maybe clear out for a little around midnight, before returning tomorrow morning according to the HRRR.

HRRR Loop Now Through 6 AM Tomorrow

For those of you heading out to the Preds game tonight, you are going to want some type of rain gear while you are outside.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will likely still be around by the 8:30 puck drop for those heading out to Bridgestone Arena.

Tomorrow, More Showers, More Timing Uncertainty

As seen in the HRRR model above, some showers from this evening could linger around through the night into the early morning hours tomorrow. Tomorrow will likely be a dreary day, not a lot of rainfall, but enough that you will want to once again keep the rain gear handy. Model inconsistencies have made it difficult to say how much rain we will see tomorrow.

A better chance of showers does appear to come in the afternoon, but like today, there is some uncertainty on the when and where aspect. Expect for showers to be somewhat like today’s in the afternoon; not severe, but we could see some strong thunderstorms.

Showers Look to Stick Around for the Remainder of the Week

Unfortunately, we just won’t be able to shake the showers away for a good bit of the week.

Below, is what just one model has to say about the remainder of the week.

GFS Loop Tuesday AM Through Saturday AM

Most models continue to keep the rain hanging around at least through Friday, maybe even into the beginning of the weekend. Showers will be scattered in nature each day, with timing issues as a result. We could see general thunderstorms with any of these showers, but there is currently no severe weather concern any day.

If you are looking to get some time in outside, Wednesday evening through the beginning of the day Thursday appear to be the best period of seeing little to no rain. This could very easily change, but for now that looks like the non-rain sweet spot.

Just keep the umbrella and rain boots handy for the rest of the week.
