On Memorial Day, we honor those who died in military service. Longtime readers know that as long as we are doing the weather, we are going to remember Army Spc. Jason K. Edens, who died from wounds suffered April 15, 2012, in Laghman province, Afghanistan, when his unit was attacked with small arms fire.

Update: Scattered storms, some severe, are in the area now, and could continue for the remainder of the evening. Damaging winds, hail, and flash flooding are the main concerns.
The HRRR doesn’t have a great handle on the situation, but it is shown below to indicate that we will dry out by about midnight. Expect temperatures to stay mild (70s) and the air to remain muggy.

“A code orange air quality alert for ozone has been issued. Ground level ozone concentrations within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. The general public is not likely to be affected. Active children and adults, and people with respiratory disease such as asthma, should limit prolonged outdoor exertion.”
